India Gate, Delhi

About India Gate

India Gate is a war memorial located astride the Rajpath in New Delhi. It is dedicated to the 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in the period 1914–1921. The eternal flame Amar Jawan Jyoti burns at its base.

Surrounded by lush lawns, India Gate is a popular picnic spot for Delhi residents. The area around it — Kartavya Path — is beautifully lit at night and is a must-visit for every tourist in Delhi.

Best Time to Visit

October to March is ideal. Evenings are especially beautiful when the monument is lit up. Avoid peak summer afternoons.
